The launch of US stock options by Bitget is expected to increase competition in the financial trading sector, potentially driving other crypto exchanges like Coinbase and Binance to further diversify their offerings. This convergence of crypto and traditional finance could attract more retail and institutional investors to platforms offering a wider range of assets, impacting trading volumes and market liquidity across various asset classes.
Bitget, a universal exchange, has launched US stock options on its Stock+ platform, allowing users to trade options on US-listed companies. This expansion makes Bitget the only major crypto exchange to offer US stock options alongside crypto and contract-for-difference markets in gold, forex, commodities, and indices. The initial release focuses on single-leg options buying, including long call and long put strategies, with plans for multi-leg strategies in the future. This move capitalizes on the booming US options market, which processed over 15.2 billion contracts in 2025. Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, stated that this launch is part of the company's strategy to converge crypto, stocks, commodities, and other global assets into one trading environment. Other exchanges like Coinbase and Binance are also expanding into traditional financial instruments.
