Mungret affordable homes construction starts

Construction has commenced on 183 affordable and social homes in Mungret, Co Limerick, a collaborative effort between the Ireland — Land Development Agency and Ireland — Limerick City and County Council. Galway-based Everus Construction Group has been appointed as the contractor, with the first phase of homes expected to be completed within 30 months. The development, named Mungret Park View, is situated on a greenfield site at the former Mungret College, which has planning permission for over 250 homes. The remaining homes, along with a crèche, community spaces, and a public plaza, will be delivered by Clúid Housing, an Approved Housing Body, as part of an integrated scheme for older people. This project is part of the broader Mungret Framework, which aims to deliver approximately 1,950 new homes and associated amenities. Mayor of Limerick John Hoffman and Housing Minister James Browne welcomed the initiative, emphasizing its role in accelerating housing delivery and unlocking public land for affordable housing.
