The AI for Good Global Commission, a high-level international initiative supported by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Salesforce, was launched on July 3, 2026. The commission brings together over 40 global leaders from governments, businesses, and international organizations to shape responsible AI development and deployment. Co-chaired by Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, with ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin as vice-chair, the commission focuses on three pillars: AI Trust, AI Access, and AI Impact. Founding members include prominent Indian business leaders Mukesh Ambani (Reliance Industries), Sunil Mittal (Bharti Enterprises), Lakshmi Mittal (ArcelorMittal), and Vishal Talwar (FedEx), as well as tech executives such as Andy Jassy (Amazon), Jensen Huang (Nvidia), Brad Smith (Microsoft), Cristiano Amon (Qualcomm), Albert Bourla (Pfizer), and James Manyika (Alphabet Inc./Alphabet). MTN Group CEO Ralph Mupita was also appointed as a commissioner. The commission aims to address digital divides, with 2.2 billion people still offline, and will hold its inaugural meeting during the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 in Geneva from July 7-10.
