The International — European Commission proposed five major cross-border defense projects, designated as European Defence Projects of Common Interest (EDPCI), which are now eligible for EU funds. The drone and Eastern Flank Watch projects involve 26 and 13 EU member countries respectively, along with Norway and Ukraine. A budget of 325 million euros is allocated under the European Defence Industry Programme, with potential for more funding. The projects aim to boost innovation, competitiveness of the European defense industrial base, and reduce market fragmentation, pending approval from the Council of the European Union.
