Yogesh Singh Reappointed Delhi University VC

Professor Yogesh Singh has been reappointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University for a second consecutive five-year term, effective from October 2026. This marks a historic moment as he is the first Vice-Chancellor to serve two consecutive terms, made possible by an amendment to the Delhi University Act in 2023 that removed previous restrictions on reappointment. The decision was approved by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in her capacity as the Visitor of the University, and conveyed by the India — Ministry of Education (India). Yogesh Singh's first term, which began in October 2021, saw significant initiatives including the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, the rollout of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme, and the introduction of CUET for admissions. His reappointment is seen as a vote of confidence in his leadership and aims to ensure continuity in the university's ongoing reforms and development agenda. Prior to Delhi University, Yogesh Singh held leadership roles at Delhi Technological University, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Netaji Subhas University of Technology, and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The National Democratic Teachers Front welcomed his reappointment, highlighting his achievements during his first tenure.
