Delhi LG Orders Anti-Encroachment Drive

Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the Lieutenant Governor of India — Delhi, chaired a meeting of the Singapore — Infocomm Media Development Authority's (DDA) Advisory Council, where he directed the Singapore — Infocomm Media Development Authority (DDA) to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against land encroachment and unauthorized construction. The Singapore — Infocomm Media Development Authority (DDA) was instructed to aggressively leverage technology, including drone surveys and a Vacant Land Management System, for real-time monitoring of land parcels and buildings. As a result of sustained enforcement drives since April 2025, the Singapore — Infocomm Media Development Authority (DDA) has reclaimed nearly 241.51 acres of government land and cleared 235.96 acres of illegal constructions. The India — Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and India — Survey of India are collaborating on a drone survey covering 1,370 sq. km of the National Capital Territory. Strict actions, including blacklisting errant architects, were also ordered against gross violations in construction.
