Bihar establishes 100 fast-track courts

The Chief Minister of India — Bihar, Samrat Choudhary, announced the establishment of 100 fast-track courts to expedite the disposal of criminal cases and strengthen law enforcement. This initiative is part of a broader effort to implement India's new criminal laws, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Act, 2023. The announcement was made at a state-level conference co-organized by the India — Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development and the India — National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, which also saw participation from judges of the India — Supreme Court of India and the Chief Justice of the India — Patna High Court. The reforms aim to enhance public confidence in the justice system through improved coordination among the judiciary, police, and executive, increased use of technology and AI in policing, and strengthened forensic capabilities. Additionally, India — Bihar is working to reduce emergency response times and has introduced a 'Sahyog' program for public grievance redressal.
