The Nigeria — Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their partnership to strengthen trade facilitation, enhance customs cooperation, and accelerate the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). This commitment was solidified during a working visit by Dr. George Elombi, President of Afreximbank, to Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi of the NCS in Abuja on July 3, 2026. The collaboration aims to unlock Africa's economic potential through stronger intra-African trade, supporting regional transit initiatives, developing one-stop border posts, and promoting global best practices in customs administration. Both institutions reviewed progress on existing collaborations, including the Customs Partnership for African Cooperation in Trade (C-PACT), and identified new areas for cooperation to promote seamless cross-border trade and regional economic integration.
