Airtel Africa has released its 2025/2026 Sustainability Scorecard, highlighting significant achievements in environmental and social responsibility. The company reduced its diesel consumption by 9.1 million litres and achieved a 94 percent waste recycling rate. These efforts were driven by converting 390 network sites to grid electricity and increasing the use of lower-carbon energy sources. Sunil Taldar, CEO of Airtel Africa, emphasized the company's commitment to responsible growth, balancing business expansion with environmental protection and socio-economic development. Airtel Africa also expanded its network coverage to 81.9 percent of the population and grew its Airtel Money customer base to 54.1 million, with 44.1 percent being women. Through its foundation and partnerships with organizations like UNICEF, Airtel Africa invested US$6.2 million in programs connecting thousands of schools to the internet, providing digital learning platforms, and offering digital skills training and STEM scholarships across Africa.
