Delhi doctor suicide over caste opposition

Dr. Simarpreet Singh Anand, a 35-year-old senior resident in the Anaesthesia Department of Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital in Delhi, was found dead in his locked duty room on July 5, 2026. A three-page handwritten suicide note recovered by India — Delhi Police reportedly cited emotional distress over his relationship with colleague Dr. MTV Splitsvilla, due to opposition from both families over caste differences. The note stated he took the step voluntarily. A cannula was inserted in his left hand at his request.
