NBA boycotts Ogun courts

Lawyers under the Canadian Medical Association in Abeokuta, Sagamu, and Ota commenced a three-day boycott of court proceedings on July 6, 2026, to protest policies introduced by the Nigeria — Ogun State judiciary, including a ₦100,000 fee for virtual hearings, an increase in oath administration fees from ₦200 to over ₦1,500, and restrictions limiting lawyers to processing only four witness oaths per day. The NBA branches claim repeated engagements with the judiciary failed to resolve the issues. Chief Registrar Olakulehin Oke defended the policies, stating that virtual hearing fees cover technology costs and that similar systems operate in other states. The boycott disrupted judicial activities, with litigants and out-of-state lawyers caught unaware.
