Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met UAE Ambassador Abdulnasser Alshaali on July 6, 2026, to discuss deepening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Goyal appreciated Alshaali's efforts in strengthening bilateral ties. The meeting highlighted the momentum in trade and investment since the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) took effect in May 2022. Both countries aim for USD 100 billion in non-oil trade by 2030, with cooperation in energy, fintech, food security, and supply chain resilience. Alshaali has advanced initiatives like the Virtual Trade Corridor and people-to-people linkages. The partnership, elevated in 2017, spans trade, defence, energy, health, space, and climate.
