The contract award reinforces HII's position as a leading supplier of unmanned underwater vehicles to the U.S. Navy, potentially boosting its defense revenue. The program's scale and value indicate sustained demand for autonomous maritime systems, benefiting HII's Mission Technologies division.
HII (Huntington Ingalls Industries) has been awarded an option year production contract by the U.S. Navy for the Lionfish small unmanned undersea vehicle (SUUV), based on HII's REMUS 300 platform. The contract continues the Lionfish program, which reached a milestone of 42 vehicles by end of 2025. The five-year program could scale to 200 vehicles with a total value exceeding $347 million. Lionfish is the Navy's first successful transition from an OTA prototype to full-scale production and the only cyber-compliant UUV in production. HII has delivered over 700 REMUS vehicles to 30+ countries, including 14 NATO members.
