A new AP-NORC poll reveals a dramatic erosion of U.S. support for Israel, with about one-third of U.S. adults, including roughly half of Democrats, believing Israel has committed genocide in Gaza. The poll shows a decisive shift within the Democratic Party: 58% now say the U.S. is too supportive of Israel, up from 45% in January 2024. Among Republicans, support remains strong but younger Republicans show signs of unease. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is broadly unpopular, with only 20% favorable views, while New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a critic of Israel, has mixed but notable favorability. The poll was conducted June 11-17 among 3,040 U.S. adults, including 1,022 Jewish adults.
