The license enhances Bitcoin's credibility and access to the UAE's growing digital asset market, potentially increasing its client base and assets under custody. It also signals regulatory progress in Abu Dhabi, attracting other crypto firms to the region.
Bitcoin, a Swiss crypto financial services provider, received a Financial Services Permission (FSP) from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). The license, granted to its subsidiary BTCS (Middle East) Ltd., allows the firm to offer regulated digital asset services to institutional and professional clients in the United Arab Emirates. Bitcoin custodies $3.7 billion in crypto assets and is the fourth-largest staking operator globally. The expansion into ADGM marks a milestone in its international growth strategy, following a CASP license in Liechtenstein two weeks earlier.
