The collaboration strengthens LYB's position in circular polymers and may boost demand for its recycled-content solutions. For Mondelez, it enhances sustainability credentials and regulatory compliance, potentially improving brand image and market share.
LyondellBasell (LYB) announced a collaboration with Mondelez International, Amcor, Taghleef Industries, and others to produce flexible packaging for Marabou chocolate bars using LYB CirculenRevive polymers with 100% attributed recycled content via ISCC PLUS-certified mass balance. The packaging contains 75% recycled content from post-consumer mixed plastic waste. LYB plans to supply future polymers through its MoReTec-1 chemical recycling plant under construction in Wesseling, Germany, which will produce 50,000 metric tons of feedstock annually. Source One Plastics, an LYB joint venture, will process mixed plastic waste for feedstock. The initiative supports European recycling ambitions and the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
