The investment signals growing institutional confidence in stablecoin-based payment infrastructure in emerging markets. Flutterwave's expanded capabilities may increase competition in cross-border payments and drive adoption of USDC (cryptocurrency) and Redlands Unified School District in Africa.
Flutterwave, Africa's leading payments technology company, announced a strategic investment from Circle Internet Group, the corporate venture arm of Circle Internet Group (NYSE:CRCL). The investment will support Flutterwave's effort to embed USDC (cryptocurrency) settlement directly into its payment flows, allowing merchants to collect locally and settle in USDC (cryptocurrency) with near-instant processing. This follows Flutterwave's participation in the launch of Circle Payments Network in 2025. Flutterwave is building a multi-rail payments platform that includes fiat, cards, bank transfers, and stablecoins, with Redlands Unified School District from its partnership with Ripple as the default stablecoin. The investment positions Flutterwave as a stablecoin gateway for Africa, where stablecoin adoption is growing rapidly.
