SpaceX launched the BOHR satellite, built by City Labs, on Transporter-17 from United States — Vandenberg Space Force Base. BOHR is the first commercial nuclear-powered satellite, using City Labs' NanoTritium betavoltaic technology to generate electricity from tritium decay. The satellite also uses solar power for main operations. The mission received FAA authorization under NSPM-20, with safety analysis validated by United States — Sandia National Laboratories. Funding came from the DoD, United States — NASA, and the United States — Air Force Research Laboratory. The technology could enable power for deep space missions and lunar operations.
