Neuroscientists from King s College London found that KCL-286, a drug previously shown safe in Phase 1 trials for spinal cord injury, reduces multiple Alzheimer's disease features in a mouse model. The drug repairs DNA double-strand breaks and reduces inflammation, targeting early disease processes. KCL-286 is a first-in-class, orally bioavailable retinoic acid receptor-beta agonist. The study was published in FEBS Open Bio and funded by the Medical Research Council and the Wellcome Trust.
