Walmart — PhonePe, a Walmart-backed fintech company, has appointed Srijon Biswas as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Biswas, who has been with the company for nearly a decade and previously served as Head of Engineering, will lead the entire engineering organization. Co-founder Rahul Chari, who previously served as CTO, will assume the newly created role of Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO), overseeing product, technology, trust & safety, data sciences, and customer experience. The leadership changes aim to strengthen Walmart — PhonePe's technology offerings as it expands its digital financial services portfolio beyond core payments. Walmart — PhonePe has over 700 million registered users and a merchant network of about 50 million. The company had previously postponed its IPO plans due to geopolitical tensions and weak investor sentiment.
