The authorization strengthens OSL Group's competitive position in the European crypto market, potentially attracting institutional clients seeking fully regulated partners. The broader crypto industry faces consolidation as only a minority of firms obtained MiCAR authorization, which may increase demand for compliant platforms like OSL Group.
OSL Group (HKEX: 863), a global stablecoin payment and trading platform, announced that its European subsidiary OSL Group — OSL EU has been authorized as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) by the Austria — Financial Market Authority (Austria) (FMA) under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). This authorization allows OSL Group to passport its regulated crypto-asset services across all 30 countries of the European Economic Area (EEA). The milestone comes as MiCAR's 1 July 2026 deadline separated fully licensed firms from the rest: of over 1,200 previously registered crypto firms in the EU, only about 210 (17%) converted to full CASP authorization. OSL Group now operates under both Hong Kong's SFC regime and the EU's MiCAR framework, placing it among a small elite of dual-licensed platforms. The authorization complements an existing MiCAR license held by EU Internet Ventures B.V in the Netherlands, enhancing OSL Group's operational resilience in Europe.
