PC market decline 2Q26
Analysis based on 8 articles · First reported Jul 09, 2026 · Last updated Jul 09, 2026
The PC market contraction signals weakening demand amid rising component costs, which may pressure margins for PC vendors and component suppliers. However, Apple's strong growth and the upcoming Windows 10 EOS deadline could provide some support.
Global PC shipments fell 3.6% year-over-year in Q2 2026 to 65.7 million units, according to Omdia. Desktop shipments declined 1.3% to 13.9 million, while notebooks fell 4.2% to 51.7 million. Rising memory and storage prices prompted pull-forward demand in early 2026, but a subsequent downturn is expected. Apple raised MacBook prices and grew 15.9% with the MacBook Neo launch. Lenovo led with 25.3% market share, HP declined 9%, Dell fell 4.9%, and Asus was flat. Component cost increases are expected to persist, dampening H2 demand.
