Wike defends Gbajabiamila over PFIPC scandal

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, publicly defended Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, against allegations linking him to the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The allegations were made by Adeyemi Adeniran, who claimed to be the director-general of the non-existent agency and alleged that Gbajabiamila was involved in its activities. President Tinubu ordered the Nigeria — Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to investigate the matter within 30 days. Wike dismissed calls by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and opposition parties for an independent probe, labeling them politically motivated. He also shared a personal experience of being blackmailed to illustrate the nature of such allegations. The controversy is seen as an attempt to embarrass the Tinubu administration.
