The investment signals strong investor confidence in India's fertility care market, which is poised for growth due to declining fertility rates and rising demand. OrbiMed's backing may boost Iswarya's expansion and market position, potentially increasing competition in the sector.
Chennai-based Iswarya Fertility Center has raised over ₹350 crore (approximately $37 million) in a growth investment from OrbiMed, a global healthcare investment firm. The funding will be used to establish new centers in existing and underserved markets, strengthen clinical infrastructure, invest in digital capabilities, and expand its embryology talent pipeline. Iswarya, founded in 1986, operates more than 85 centers across eight states in India and has served over 300,000 couples. The investment marks Iswarya's maiden external funding round and is one of the largest growth investments in India's IVF sector. India's total fertility rate has fallen to 1.9, below the replacement rate, driving demand for fertility services. The IVF market in India is expected to grow at a CAGR of 14-18% and exceed $4 billion by 2030. Veda Corporate Advisors acted as financial adviser to Iswarya.
