The investment signals confidence in Pixel-Flo's technology to overcome a key bottleneck in microLED manufacturing, potentially accelerating the adoption of microLED displays in consumer electronics. This could benefit the display supply chain and related industries, though the impact is limited to the early-stage funding round.

Pixel-Flo, a University of Sheffield spinout developing a process for scaled-up microLED display manufacturing, has raised £5.25 million in Seed funding. The round was led by Northern Gritstone with additional investment from SCVC, Parkwalk Advisors, and HTGF. The funding will support Pixel-Flo's transition from laboratory development towards industrial scale-up, expanding its team and relocating to new lab and office space. The company's proprietary Continuous-Flow Mass Transfer technology aims to reduce the cost and speed up production of microLED displays, which offer higher brightness and efficiency than traditional displays. Pixel-Flo was founded in 2025 by Dr. Rick Smith, Dr. Suneal Ghataora, and Simon Jones. The company has also hired Sanger Hsu as Taiwan-based Business Development VP to focus on early customer engagement in the display market.
