The commencement of site preparation advances the development of a major tungsten project, which could impact global tungsten supply. The project is expected to contribute to Kazakhstan's economic development and provide a secure tungsten supply for the US and global markets.
Cove Kaz Capital Group LLC announced that site preparation will commence in July at the open pit mine location of the Northern Katpar and Upper Kairakty tungsten deposits in Kazakhstan, collectively known as Severniy Katpar. The work includes land survey, road establishment, drill pad preparation, and opening a site office to support the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS). Core drilling is planned for August. The company also appointed Adil Amerkhanov as CFO of Kazakhstan Operations. Severniy Katpar LLP owns the largest undeveloped tungsten resource globally, with JORC-compliant resources of 1.4 million tonnes of tungsten trioxide. Cove Kaz acquired a 70% interest in Severniy Katpar LLP on April 29, 2026, and has entered a business combination with Skyline Builders Group Holding Limited to form Kaz Resources Inc., trading on Nasdaq under KAZR.
