President Bola Tinubu transmitted a bill to the Nigeria — Senate of Nigeria seeking to repeal the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015 and enact the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2026. The bill aims to address challenges such as delays in investigations, inadequate use of technology, and weak coordination among institutions. It also proposes establishing the Nigeria — Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Council. Senate President Godswill Akpabio referred the bill to the Committee on Rules and Business, which must report back within four weeks.
