The deployment strengthens Halliburton's position in drilling automation, potentially increasing demand for its services. Eni benefits from improved operational efficiency in deepwater drilling.
Halliburton successfully deployed its LOGIX automation and remote operations technology on a deepwater exploration well operated by Eni offshore Indonesia. This marks the first integration of full rig automation with Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) in the Asia-Pacific region. The closed-loop system combined rig surface equipment, automated well placement, downhole hydraulics, and MPD controls, coordinated by the LOGIX Orchestration service. The deployment improved drilling efficiency by more than 15% while maintaining well control in narrow operating margins. The collaboration highlights Halliburton's growing automation capabilities and follows its acquisition of Sekal from Sumitomo Corporation in April 2026.
