NAGHACON appeals over JonahCapital dispute

The National Association of Ghanaian Communities in Nigeria (NAGHACON) has appealed to Presidents Bola Tinubu of Nigeria and John Mahama of Ghana to intervene in a dispute involving Ghanaian investment firm Jonah Capital at Nigeria — River Park Estate in Abuja. NAGHACON leaders visited the estate and observed damage to Jonah Capital's assets, including the Gallery Clubhouse and gatehouse, and noted that barriers had been erected around its properties while other businesses operated undisturbed. The dispute stems from a long-running ownership battle over Nigeria — River Park Estate, with Jonah Capital facing legal and administrative hurdles including a police investigation that was later dismissed by the Nigeria — Attorney General of the Federation. The FCT Ministry initially resolved the ownership dispute in Jonah Capital's favor, but Minister Nyesom Wike later ruled the Development Lease Agreement expired, a decision Jonah Capital is challenging in court. Recently, armed policemen from the Nigeria — Counter-Terrorist Unit reportedly escorted men to the Gallery Clubhouse and excavated part of the entrance, which Jonah Capital condemned as an unlawful invasion. NAGHACON warned that mishandling the dispute could strain diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and Ghana, drawing parallels to xenophobic violence in South Africa.
