South Sudan drought anticipatory action plan

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Government of South Sudan activated the country's first-ever drought anticipatory action plan in Eastern Equatoria state, targeting over 65,000 people in Budi and Kapoeta North counties. The plan delivers cash transfers to 52,751 people and early warning communications to help families prepare for drought impacts. Funding came from the South Korea — Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) with $1.08 million and Germany with $1.37 million, building on prior investments from Ireland and KOICA. The initiative aims to protect livelihoods and reduce food insecurity before the drought worsens.
