Haryana Digital Kavach cyber security launch

The India — Haryana government has launched 'India — Haryana Digital Kavach', a comprehensive cyber security initiative announced by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in the 2026-27 state budget. The initiative aims to enhance cyber resilience and protect government digital infrastructure and citizens' data against evolving cyber threats. As part of the rollout, the India — Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITEC), in association with the India — Citizen Resources Information Department (CRID) and with support from the India — Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), organized a state-level consultation workshop in Chandigarh. The workshop brought together senior officials from various state departments, boards, corporations, and experts from MeitY, India — National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Nigeria — Nigerian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), India — National Informatics Centre (NIC), Haryana — Haryana Police, and the Power Department. DITEC Director Samwartak Singh Khangwal emphasized that cyber security is central to good governance and public trust. The initiative includes 24x7 threat intelligence, rapid incident response, mandatory security standards, and periodic audits. The workshop discussed emerging cyber threats, data governance, cyber crime prevention, Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) compliance, and secure AI-enabled infrastructure. The recommendations will contribute to the National Cyber Security Framework being prepared by the Government of India, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for structured consultations between the Centre and States.
