The event is unlikely to have direct market impact. It may slightly increase demand for diagnostic services and home-testing kits, benefiting healthcare companies.
The NHS is urging people in their 50s to complete bowel cancer screening kits after figures showed low uptake in this age group. Only 56.2% of 54-year-olds returned their kits in 2024-25, compared to 73.5% of those aged 70-74. The NHS sends free FIT kits to everyone aged 50-74 every two years. The screening programme diagnosed about 100 cancers per week. Joanne Vernon, diagnosed early after completing her kit, urges others to participate. Charities Bowel Cancer UK and Cancer Research UK support the campaign. The National Cancer Plan aims for 17,000 earlier diagnoses by 2035.
