India hosted the 3rd BRICS Transport Ministers' Meeting in Nagpur on July 11-12, 2026, under its BRICS Chairship. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari chaired the meeting, calling for deeper cooperation among BRICS nations to build sustainable, resilient, and future-ready transport systems. He highlighted India's infrastructure achievements, including the world's second-largest road network, railway electrification, and green mobility initiatives. The meeting reviewed progress since previous chairships and discussed collaboration in areas such as sustainable aviation fuel, urban mobility, multimodal transport, and AI-based technologies. The expanded BRICS grouping, comprising Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates, represents nearly half the world's population and about 40% of global GDP.
