Aditya Birla Group, through its subsidiary Hindalco Industries, has proposed an additional investment of Rs 12,000 crore to expand its greenfield Kansariguda Alumina Refinery in India — Rayagada district, India — Odisha, India. The expansion will increase the refinery's capacity from the initially planned 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 3 MTPA, raising total investment to approximately Rs 20,000 crore. The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, and India — Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The project is expected to generate substantial direct and indirect employment and boost downstream industries.
