ADC urges equal rescue efforts for kidnap victims

The Nigeria — African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed the rescue of 44 pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Nigeria — Oyo State after 56 days in captivity. However, the party urged the federal government to extend the same urgency to victims still held in Borno and Kwara states, including schoolchildren abducted in Borno in May 2026 and over 100 people kidnapped in Kaiama, Nigeria — Kwara State. The ADC criticized the Tinubu administration for what it called a selective approach to rescue operations and argued that the government should focus on preventing kidnappings rather than measuring success by rescue numbers. The party called for a comprehensive security strategy addressing root causes of insecurity.
