Taj Hotel bomb threat hoax

On July 12, 2026, the Taj Mahal (palace) in Mumbai received a bomb threat call claiming that Dawood Ibrahim had planted a bomb. The call was made to India — Greater Mumbai Police, who alerted India — Greater Mumbai Police. Security agencies including the India — Criminal Investigation Department and India — Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted a thorough search of the hotel premises, including lobby, restaurants, banquet halls, parking area, and swimming pool. No suspicious objects were found, and the threat was declared a hoax. Police traced the call to India — Turbhe in Navi Mumbai and are searching for the suspect. The incident follows a similar hoax bomb threat at Delhi's India — Red Fort the previous day. The Taj Hotel was a target in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, which heightened the response.
