Kongsberg Maritime acquires Berg Propulsion

Kongsberg Gruppen — Kongsberg Maritime ASA announced an agreement to acquire Swedish propulsion specialist Berg Propulsion AB. The acquisition is priced at approximately the same EV/EBITDA level as Kongsberg Gruppen — Kongsberg Maritime's current market valuation. Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal is subject to customary regulatory approvals. Berg Propulsion, headquartered in Gothenburg, designs and manufactures integrated propulsion and electrical systems, employing around 400 people with an installed base of about 4,000 vessels. In 2025, Berg Propulsion generated revenues of approximately EUR 160 million. Kongsberg Gruppen — Kongsberg Maritime, part of Kongsberg Gruppen, generated revenues of MNOK 27,123 in 2025. Following completion, Berg Propulsion will operate as a separate brand and standalone business unit within Kongsberg Gruppen — Kongsberg Maritime's Propulsion & Handling division. The combined propulsion portfolio will cover controllable pitch propellers, thrusters, hybrid and electrical propulsion systems, and integrated vessel control solutions. The acquisition is expected to unlock aftermarket synergies and cross-selling opportunities.
