UK £250m Jewish community security package

The British government announced a £250 million funding package over three years to enhance police protection for Jewish communities following a surge in antisemitic attacks. The funding will deploy over 500 additional police officers in areas with significant Jewish populations, including 300 in London and 80 in Greater Manchester, and increase patrols at synagogues and Jewish schools. The package also includes £59 million for counter-terrorism policing and funding for educational initiatives. The announcement follows a series of attacks, including a stabbing in Golders Green in April 2026 and a synagogue attack in Manchester in October 2025, which led to the terror threat level being raised to severe. Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that tackling antisemitism has been central to his leadership.
