According to Grant Thornton Bharat's Automotive Dealtracker, India's automotive sector recorded 20 deals worth $717 million in Q2 2026, with overall deal values declining marginally by 4% quarter-on-quarter. Transaction volumes fell to their lowest since Q2 2023. Excluding public market activity, 18 M&A and PE/VC deals totaled $479 million. M&A activity was selective with five deals worth $138 million, led by KPIT Technologies' $120 million acquisition of Israel-based Cymotive Technologies. PE/VC activity moderated to 13 deals worth $341 million, led by Rapido's $240 million fundraise and JBM Ecolife Mobility's $47 million investment. Mobility-as-a-Service led sectoral deal values at $298 million, while EVs accounted for 54% of PE transactions. Auto tech contributed 87% of M&A value. Investors focused on technology-led mobility, electrification, and EV ecosystem enablers.
