The conference reinforces the growing focus on hydrogen as a maritime fuel, potentially boosting investment in hydrogen infrastructure and related technologies. However, the market impact is limited as hydrogen adoption remains nascent and the event is industry-specific.
The 7th Alternative Fuels Conference was held during the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco in collaboration with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. The conference brought together energy companies, technology providers, and maritime industry leaders to discuss hydrogen, electricity, e-methanol, and other solutions for maritime decarbonization. NatPower and Linde highlighted their partnership in hydrogen refueling infrastructure, with NatPower building a network of marine concessions and completing experimental refueling operations. Linde supplied hydrogen to competing boats for the third consecutive year. Both companies emphasized hydrogen's complementary role alongside electricity in future maritime energy.
