The expanded partnership is expected to accelerate digital payment adoption in Pakistan, benefiting Mastercard's market presence and BOP's digital transformation. It may positively impact the financial services sector by increasing transaction volumes and financial inclusion.
Senior leadership of Mastercard and The Bank of Punjab (BOP) met in Karachi to reaffirm and expand their strategic alliance aimed at supporting Pakistan's transition towards a cashless, digitally connected and financially inclusive economy. The discussions covered financial inclusion, transit payments, digital government disbursements, and cross-border remittances. They reviewed the success of existing initiatives like the CM Punjab Asaan Karobar Card, Kissan Card, and Livestock Card, and the Ramzan Nigehban Programme. They also plan to digitize the largest transit program covering 13 cities of Punjab for contactless fare payments.
