The contract strengthens SLB's position in West Africa and supports its subsea segment revenue. Eni's accelerated development of Baleine Phase 3 boosts Ivory Coast's energy output and may attract further investment in the region.
Eni has awarded SLB SLB — OneSubsea a major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for Phase 3 of the deepwater Baleine project offshore Ivory Coast. The contract covers subsea production systems for 13 wells, including subsea trees, umbilicals, manifolds, flowmeters, and control systems, along with installation, commissioning, and life-of-field support. Phase 3, approved in May 2026, is expected to increase oil production from 60,000 to 150,000 barrels per day and gas output from 80 to 200 million cubic feet per day. SLB SLB — OneSubsea, a joint venture between SLB, Aker Solutions, and Subsea 7, will leverage its local presence in Ivory Coast to support the accelerated development schedule. The Baleine field, discovered in 2021, is the largest hydrocarbon find in Ivory Coast and began production in August 2023.
