Cloudflare's new product strengthens its competitive position in the cybersecurity market, potentially driving customer adoption and revenue growth. The launch may also pressure competitors to innovate in bot management solutions.
Cloudflare, Inc. announced the general availability of Precursor, a next-generation continuous behavioral validation engine for bot management. Built on Cloudflare's edge, Precursor runs inside web browsers to monitor entire user sessions and detect bot automation by analyzing mouse movement, scrolling rhythm, typing cadence, and other behavioral signals in real time. Unlike traditional CAPTCHAs, it provides session-long security without interrupting legitimate users. The launch comes as automated bot traffic now accounts for 57% of all web requests, surpassing human activity for the first time. Cloudflare CTO Dane Knecht emphasized that Precursor eliminates the blind spot between login and checkout by continuously evaluating visitor behavior.
