The India — India has informed the India — Supreme Court of India that it has accepted the recommendations of a 26-member expert committee to introduce comprehensive sex education in schools and colleges nationwide. The committee, headed by an Additional Secretary in the India — Ministry of Women and Child Development, included representatives from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, clinical psychologists, and officials from various ministries and state governments. The proposed curriculum, to be developed by the India — National Council of Educational Research and Training, will cover age-appropriate topics such as body safety, hygiene, consent, reproductive health, and child sexual abuse awareness, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020. The move follows a Supreme Court directive to address concerns over the criminalization of consensual adolescent relationships under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The government stated it will implement the program after receiving the court's approval.
