Roche introduced the cobas HDV test, the first fully automated, high-throughput assay for detecting and quantifying Hepatitis D Virus (HDV) RNA, on its cobas 5800/6800/8800 systems. The test is available in countries accepting the CE mark. Hepatitis D affects about 12 million people globally and is the most severe form of viral hepatitis, often leading to liver failure and cancer. The new test addresses the need for consistent, widely accessible HDV testing, especially as new treatments become available. Roche Diagnostics CEO Matt Sause highlighted the test's role in improving outcomes for liver disease patients.
