Peter Obi may not run after 2027

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria — African Democratic Congress (NDC), stated in an interview with Rufai Oseni that he is unlikely to contest the presidency after the 2027 general election due to Nigeria's informal zoning arrangement that rotates the presidency between the North and South. He noted that if the presidency shifts to the North in 2031, he would be 78 by the time it returns to the South, making another bid unlikely. However, he left open the possibility if the presidency remains in the South in 2031, though he described that as very slim.
