Senate criticizes NCDC funding shortfall

The Senate Committee on the Nigeria — North Central Development Commission (NCDC), led by Senator Titus Zeman, has criticized the Federal Government's monthly allocation of N2.9 billion to the NCDC as grossly inadequate compared to its approved N140 billion budget for 2026. The committee directed the NCDC to prioritize agriculture, security, mining, and rural infrastructure. Despite funding constraints, the NCDC, under Managing Director Dr. Cyril Tsenyil, has laid institutional foundations, secured partnerships with agencies like REA, SMEDAN, and NIRSAL, obtained BPP approvals, and approved a strategic roadmap and investment company.
