Oppong Nkrumah criticizes 24-Hour Economy

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Ranking Member on Parliament's Economy and Development Committee, criticized Ghana's 24-Hour Economy policy, arguing that nearly two years after the NDC government took office and with GH¢650 billion in public expenditure approved, no government agency has implemented the promised 'one job, three people, three shifts' model. He questioned the focus on building 24-hour markets and delayed private sector incentives, and urged revival of the One District, One Factory programme. Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu defended the policy, stating it includes broader export development and that the government has submitted its economic programme to Parliament. Oppong Nkrumah warned that lack of industrial policy worsens youth unemployment, citing 32.4% rate.
