US Cyclosporiasis Outbreak First Deaths

A large cyclosporiasis outbreak, caused by the Cyclospora parasite, has spread across the United States, with United States — Michigan as the epicenter. The outbreak has been linked to shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms' central Mexico facility, served at Yum! Brands — Taco Bell restaurants. The FDA and CDC have confirmed the link through epidemiological data, though a positive lab test was later deemed a false positive. Taylor Farms issued a voluntary recall of its iceberg lettuce, and Yum! Brands — Taco Bell removed the product from its supply chain.
