This event is unlikely to have significant direct market impact. However, it highlights ongoing international efforts to dismantle transnational organized crime groups, which may affect security-related sectors and investor sentiment in regions with exposure to such groups.
The FBI has added Nitish Kaushal, an Indian national and alleged member of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang, to its most wanted list. Kaushal is wanted for alleged involvement in murder, kidnapping, drug trafficking, extortion, weapons trafficking, money laundering, and human smuggling. A federal arrest warrant was issued on June 25 after he was charged with RICO conspiracy. The FBI action followed Operation Hard Ball, a coordinated international enforcement action targeting the Bhagwanpuria gang, which involved raids across the US, Canada, and Europe. The FBI is also offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Goldy Brar and Goldy Brar, linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Brar was charged with ordering the assassination of Hardeep Singh Puri in Canada in 2023.
